Kosovo to submit test T IMSS in next year

During May, piloting another international assessment of fourth-graders in mathematics and natural science is organised.

Test T The IMSS is a study that is conducted under the auspices of the European Union every four years. Education Ministry officials suggest Kosovo will submit to final T assessment IMSS in 2019. Such estimates determine the state of education of a state.

International assessment T The IMSS is organised by fourth-graders for mathematics and natural science, which is with the highest credibility and significant impact on the development of educational policies of the countries that participate. The head of the Education, Standard and Monitoring Division at the Ministry of Education, Mustaf Kadriu, announced to public television that this month it will become a pilot, adding that these international estimates are in the interest of Kosovo, as it determines the state of education of a state.

We are for the first time in TIMSS with fourth graders. In 2018 there will be 32 pilot schools, where two parallels will be taken in each school, and there will be 32 schools that will have three parallels. There will be 64 parallels of fourth graders. Of course, piloting is to see how questions work, whether there are mistakes. However, here too is the T IMSS preparing questions”.

Kadriu said that after the pilot, they will continue with the other procedures, where the final test will take place in 2019, while in 2020 the result will be made. Again, the selection of students and schools will be by chance.

The education affairs acquaintance, Dukagjin Pupovci, told public television that such international tests are good for Kosovo, as they make it possible to compare our education system with those of other countries.

In the absence of these international tests, I'm afraid that we'd be very referred to and referring to ourselves constantly, we wouldn't see the concessions, however, the deadlocks that we have in relation to other countries. I think so. The IMSS will have similar effects when next year comes true. It is important that Kosovo be present on international tests, as they are a kind of stimulus and a kind of incentive for the education system to continue to improve. ”

Teachers, school directors, municipal directors, assessments and inspectors and education ministry officials will engage in the process. During the process of implementing assessment IMSS, international workshops and seminars are organised, national instruments are prepared, school and student samples are prepared, response codes are made, data are collected, and their analysis is conducted.
