KMDLNJ urges Thaci not to decree Judge Radomir Laban without his past verified

The Council for Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms through a letter asks Kosovo President Hashim Thaci not to decree Radomir Lieban as Constitutional Court judge without having his past verified.

Laban was elected Constitutional Judge Friday by Kosovo Parliament deputies as allegations of his criminal past were immediately raised.

For the case in question, KMDLNj thinks it is the concession of those who have had to make the verification of the past of any candidate who has competed for the position of Constitutional Court judge as early as we cannot be trusted candidates for their past.

“Preci Thaci , KMDLNj requires you, as the authority that rules to decree Kosovo Constitutional Court judges, not sign Mr. Laban until finally his past is explained, following a verification that turned out to be flawed in the concrete case. Explaining Mr. Lieban is easily verifiable if there is will and if this process does not subject to political influences”, the KMDLNJ letter says.

According to the KMDLNJ, selecting candidates for the Constitutional Court should be depoliticised as if another possibility of interviewing (with changes of the Constitution) is required for the fact that the interviewing commission has the lowest professional capacity to say by any candidate for the Constitutional Court, so politics and political parties are finding sufficient room for manipulation of this whole process.

There is no doubt that MPs from the Serbian community have known about Mr. Laban is wondering if the Albanians knew about this and voted again? The Ljubljana case, if it turns out to be true, clearly shows the lack of co-ordination between specific security system segments and responsible for verifying the past for positions that require clarification of the past. If the Ljubljana case is beyond suspicion expressed in the media and proves his past, which is incompatible with the targeted post and unfortunately voted by irresponsible MP, Mr. Not that it should not be decreed as Kosovo Constitutional Court judge, but that investigations should be launched against him for false presentation of facts, hiding the truth and forging of documents”, KMDLNJ says.
