Haradinaj relates a visit to Anita and the children to a Kosovo Serb, tells what he had said about the Army

Within the Southeast European Summit “Love Your Neighbor”, prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo Ramush Haradinaj, participated in the “Morning Prayers”, which is being held in Tirana and is organised by the Parliament of the Republic of Albania. Prime Minister Haradinaj said during his speech as a panelwriter that he feels honored to speak today of such an important topic, being together on a panel like this one.

I'm proud to be here, but I also feel the brains, because I'm as one of us, in a region that has a tragic past, and in this case we're not talking about a distant past, for a fresh past two decades ago. I will present some of my beliefs and feelings here, but before that, let me thank Fatmir Mehdiu, who is not giving up on our behalf. He has done a great job uniting us here today, not only to love each other and the neighbors, but also to love our neighbours and the world”, Prime Minister Haradinaj said at the beginning of his word.

Speaking about relations between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia, Prime Minister Haradinaj cited a personal experience.

Serbia's <x0). I have been able to visit him at his home, and I have once visited him, accompanied by my children and my wife, Anita. Out of respect, he too brought his children to join us. After our children met each other and started talking and discussing, I asked the host a question. I said, how can it be normal for you for our children to play together and get to know each other, and it is not normal for these children, Kosovo Serb children, to serve in the Kosovo Army. Why, you and I, do not have the courage to let our children have a better future than we had? Because, not far away, just two decades ago, we were all on opposite sides during the war. So I asked him if it would be happy to let our children have the same fate as we and to be back on two opposite sides or want to do whatever is possible to make a difficult decision, to let our children live in peace” Prime Minister Haradinaj said, adding that everyone in Kosovo is working hard, every day for real peace.

Peace is in people's hearts, it's in people's faith, it's basically. In our country, in Kosovo, I am convinced that we are not only committed to peace, but we are aware of how important it is to live in peace and reconciliation. For this reason, I treat them not only with respect but also with integrity, colleagues from all communities in our state, Serbian colleagues. So for this reason, I think open questions from the past should be closed, because these pose a danger to us”, Prime Minister Haradinaj continued his word.

Prime Minister Haradinaj cited the fact that all open questions in our region, not being finalised -- not having reached a final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia -- are a threat to our region -- are dangerous for our children.

Haradinaj added that two decades have been lost in Europe and that we must all commit to finding solutions to all open issues so that we can join our family in the European Union, where we belong.

God has blessed us, especially my nation, our newest country, with special connection to the United States. This love does not serve to make others jealous. Whenever I say this, I say it's because it comes from a country where our lives were endangered, in 99. We were close to extinction and never coming back. US-led NATO has made the difference, so that all of us can return and build our lives together”, Prime Minister Haradinaj said, concluding his word with the message that we should love each other in the region, so that tragedies from the past do not repeat.

Southeast European Summit “Love Your Neighbor”, organised by Albania's Parliament, aims to build bridges of co-operation between countries for the common future. In addition to Haradinaj's prime minister, there were also high institutional representatives from Kosovo, Albania, countries in the region, Europe and the world.
