Haradinaj: Friendship with the state of Iowa, eternal testimony with the United States

Haradinaj expressed thanks to all those who committed themselves to creating partnership with the state of Iowa and twinning the city of Norwalk with the town of Vushtrri, citing the special commitment to Vushtrri, Xhafer Tahiri, but also the presence of the mayor of Norwalk, Kosovo and his commitment to the project.

All of us who are here today are happy and excited about the friendship we have with the state of Iowa and the United States, which is built on important historical stages. We are all happy and willing to contribute to it, but tonight the heroes of this friendship are the two heads, Xhafer Tahiri and Tom Philips. As prime minister of this country, I am pleased to be a witness to this friendship, which I pray will always last”, Haradinaj said.

The chairman of the Vushtrri municipality, Xhafer Tahiri, said that today a friendship agreement -- with a city and a state -- is being found in the most difficult moments. “Today is a special day for the town of Vushtrri, for the citizens of Vushtrri, for farmers and for the students of Vushtrri”, said Chairman Tahiri.

The mayor of the town of Norwalk, Tom Philips, spoke happily of the reception and the formalisation of twinning between two Norwalk and Vushtrri, and added that Macedonian officials and the Department of Economic Development have worked hard for the last two years to realise this partnership.

Commander of the National Guard of Ioga, General Timothy Orr, said it is an honor to stay close to you at our home. “Tonight we begin a new dream, we have people, we have resources, and we have a big heart”, General Orr said, expressing confidence in further co-operation in the future.

Tom Philips, head of the city of Norwalk of Iowa, was declared an honorary citizen of Vushtrri.
