Finance Minister Bedri Hamza signed with European Investment Bank Vice President (BEI) in Luxembourg today. Dario Scannapieco loan agreement for financing the Pristina-Peje highway project, the Kijevo-Zhaq segment worth 80m euros.
The project is one of the government priorities that will help Kosovo citizens, with Dukagjin's emphasis, but which is more important than connecting Kosovo with other European states will also have the country's economic development impact.
This is the second financial agreement being signed on this project, following that with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BERZH) currently ratified by the Kosovo Assembly. In addition to the two loans, grants have also been obtained from the Western Balkans' Investment Frame.
Minister Hamza said the Government of Kosovo considers the European Investment Bank as a strategic partner for European development and integration, which will also be reflected through joint investments in other sectors.
While Vice President Scannapieco said this is the second financial agreement signed between the two institutions and testifies to the dedication of this European institution in Kosovo.
The European Investment Bank has earmarked 257m euros for Kosovo, of which 149m euros have been signed to date, he said.
During the visit to Luxembourg, Minister Bedri Hamza is expected to meet other high-level representatives of the European Investment Bank to discuss the progress of current projects in Kosovo and the possibilities of financing potential projects in the environment, health and private sector.
