Critical phase with EU: Haradinaj ministers give tasks, citizens deadlines for visas

Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has expressed optimism regarding visa liberalisation. But on the other hand, at today's cabinet meeting, he ordered his ministers to seriously carry out their duties, as according to him, Kosovo finds itself in the most critical period of co-operation with the European Union, Periscope reports. Today, the Kosovo government adopted draft communications and information strategy in support of the European integration process for the 1920-2021s.
During the meeting, the prime minister again demands seriousness at work by his ministers.
According to him, Kosovo now finds itself in the most critical period of co-operation with the EU.
We are in the most critical periods of our co-operation with the EU. At this time, take your duties seriously. Consider the tasks that give good signals. There are some countries that are more reserved - whether for expansion or for liberalisation. We must continue with our work in fighting corruption and crime in reforms on all topics. It's important to go seriously. Kosovo should have stable arguments as to liberalisation as to candidate status, you should be serious and careful at work. It is painful that such a great task is not crowned with the greatest success”, he said.
After the government meeting, however, he had a very different attitude.
It expressed its full conviction that in June Kosovo is expected to receive the recommendation for abolishing visas, despite critical periods of co-operation with the EU.
I believe that the visas are removed at the end of the year. We expect the recommendation to be given in June”, Prime Minister Haradinaj said.
He also spoke of the European Parliament Vice-President's statement, which asked Kosovo leaders not to give visa dates.
Haradinaj said Rainer Weyland's statement was more of a requirement for Kosovo politicians to focus on the job.
There are many things yet to be done, I see that the country has made progress and we are willing to support the country in the things that must be done. I don't see any moment for the visa document to come to the European Parliament to vote. The European Parliament insists that conditions be met. I recommend that everyone not make promises about things for visa liberalisation that could happen very soon”, Wieland had said.. /Periscopi
