A recent study has made new evidence of the connection between heart and brain health.
Depression patients experience an increase in heart rate disorders that may even cause heart attacks.
This came after the latest research of “American heart associations”.
When a patient is depressed, what is medically called arterial fibrilavion - when the two upper heart chambers tremble chaoticly, losing the ability to push blood into the lower rooms. This can lead to numbness and therefore shock.
The study has included over 6600 people aged 62, who had no cardiac risk and were watched for a period of 13 years. From the study, it turned out that depressed persons or those who took antipressants had more than 30% risk for developing arterial fibrillation. The results suggest the need for greater awareness by both doctors and patients.
Thus, treating depression is very important, among other things, for cardiovascular health. The next study already seeks to prove whether dealing with depression reduces the risk of arterial fibrillation.
