The U.S. has successfully completed its first total penis transplant.
University surgeons Johns Hopkins, in Baltimore, Maryland performed the operation on a soldier who was injured by a bomb in Afghanistan.
Penis for transplant was taken by a dead donor.
Doctors say the soldier will be able to gain sexual functions that were impossible to rebuild the penis.
The medical team consisted of 11 surgeons who performed a transplant operation that lasted 14 hours on March 26.
This is the first transplant operation in a veteran soldier who's been injured in office, and it's a complete penis transplant operation.
The soldier who underwent the transplant through a statement to the media said: “When I woke up after surgery for the first time I felt that I am now in order”, the BBC writes.
