Russia's patriarch arrives in Tirana today, two days visit to Albania

This is the first time Kiril comes to Albania, while during his two-day stay he will meet with Archbishop Yanulatos, but also with State head Ilir Meta and other top officials in the country.

It is also learned that during his stay in Albania, the Russian Patriarch will visit St Vlash Monastery in Durres, but also the town of Berat.

“This time he will visit Albania's martyr church, which suffered greatly in the 20th century and was practically destroyed”, the Russian Orthodox Church press release said.

Kiril and Yanulatos have a nearly 50-year friendship and this is not the first time they meet together, but it is the first time this meeting has been realised in Albania. / TCh
