If it is true that a country its own residents do it, Kosovo is one of the most beautiful places in the world for me. In no country have I met people as polite, accessible, and educated as in this small (great) Balkan state.

That's how Italian journalist and popular traveler Francesca Masotti, published in her blog “, begins writing. Francesca on the top of the World”, reports ATSH.

Despite the economic poverty of a large part of the population, the injustices suffered before, during and after the war and the current political situation at the international level, Kosovo Albanians have not lost the great humanity, which characterizes them by making people the most dignified in the world.

More than once, I've been looking for information to get to one place, and people are committed to helping me by checking out on Google Maps, to follow me to my destination, wish me a good day and give me a smile before they say goodbye.

For me it's very important the human aspect on a journey and Kosovo from this point of view, has touched me deeply and left me a very positive memory, so much so that I hope to return as soon as possible.

While the country's current blue and six-star yellow flag (representing six ethnic groups in the country, Albanians, Serbs, Turks, Roma, Bosniaks and Gorani respectively), will always see the Albanian flag -- the Kosovo Albanians I met during my trip -- all have hearts and minds directed to Albania, considered by them as home.

Traveling in the country, however, I have forgotten more than once that I am not in Albania -- the similarity to the Eagles' Place, primarily historical traditions and language.

Also, it seemed absurd that by coming from Albania to cross the border, present the passport and enter a land where Albanians live, Albanian is spoken, traditions and customs are Albanian, and, above all, residents consider themselves Albanians.

Here is what you can visit to Kosovo:

“Mother Teresa”

This huge pedestrian boulevard doesn't have anything exciting about architecture, but you have to move there to the main areas of the city because it's turned into a Pristina pedestrian mall where people want to spend their leisure time. Next to it lies the National Theatre of Kosovo, the most important in the country and finally, has a large statue dedicated to Gjergj Kastriot Skenderbeu, the Albanian national hero who defended Albania and the West from the progress of the Ottoman Empire.

Ethnographic Museum “Emin Gjiku”

Pristina's Ethnographic Museum is located in a beautiful Ottoman building located in the city's oldest neighbourhood. It contains interesting research of antiquity, especially from the Ottoman era, and in its chambers you can admire interesting objects and artifacts of those years.

The entrance is free and offered and the guide that explains (in fine English) very detailedly the discoveries and customs of time.

Sultan Mehmed Fatih Mosque

This beautiful mosque is the most important Muslim cult building in Pristina. Shortly after my visit, I saw the call for prayer, a time when all believers were passing by on the street and shopmen by the building ran to enter the mosque and pray. The thing that hit me most about this building was the beautiful decorations of the inner ceiling and, above all, the appearance.

Monument “Born”

The monument “Newborn” was established on the day of Kosovo's declaration of independence on February 17th 2008 and is a must for anyone visiting Pristina. It's an ideal place to take some beautiful pictures, but without forgetting the historical significance, than architectural. A curiosity: Every year, February 17th, the image of the monument changes. This year, for the 10th anniversary of independence, writing, as you can see by the figure, contains the number 10.

Kosovo National Library “Peter Bogdani”

The National Library of Kosovo is a special building -- the work of Croatian architect Andrija Mutnjakovic, named by most as one of the most ugly buildings in the world. I have truly found this very interesting building: not only outside with its iron blinds and 99 white domes each of these different sizes but also within the place where you could admire the domes from a different perspective.

There is an unfinished Orthodox church near the library: according to Slobodan Milosevic's plans (former Serb leader accused of crimes against humanity not only in Kosovo, but also in Bosnia and Croatia) it would be the largest Serbian Orthodox church in Kosovo, but after the outbreak of war it has not ended and judging by the state in which it is located, I don't think it will end very soon.

Catholic cathedral “Mother Teresa”

inaugurated in September 2017, Mother Teresa's cathedral is the largest Catholic church in Kosovo. Mother Teresa was one of the most important religious figures of the 20th century. So it is not hard to understand why so many buildings, roads, squares and important sites bear its name in Kosovo and Albania.
