Bram Stoker actually chose his name, Dracula, to baptize the protagonist vampire of a successful novel. The historical figure of true Dracula would merit a profound revision.

A re-reading that does not degrade in the foolish bloodbath described by many, but neither exalt it as a enlightened Renaissance prince, as did history professors in Romania and Ceausescu.

It came out of history at the end of the Four hundred to enter legend at the end of eight hundred, thanks to an Irish writer's wild imagination. Bram Stoker actually chose his name, Dracula, to baptize the protagonist vampire of a successful novel.

The historical figure of true Dracula would merit a profound revision. A rereading that doesn't degrade in the blood received by many, but neither exalt it as a enlightened Renaissance prince, as did history professors in Romania and Ceausescu.

Vladi III, the warrior prince who entered history under the nickname “Dracula”, also known as the vigilante, was most likely born in the Transylvanian city of Sighisoara in 1431. His father Prince Vlad II of the Basarab dynasty, president of the Vlasia throne and commander of the border guards serving Yanush Hunyad.

Overnamed “Dracul”, since Emperor Sigismondo I decorated it with the Order of the Dragon, Vlad II found the favorable moment to regain dynasties and get back to the throne his father had been in. The case was presented to him in 1436, when at the head of a group of Hungarian soldiers he managed to establish his court in the princely palace of Targoviste.

For the first time, the chronics record the presence of a second son of Prince Vlad. But the life of the court is not for the sloth, nor for peace: Vladia was a border feud, and the presence with the Ottoman Empire forces for a diligent military vigilance. Vlad, in turn, tries not to displease either the king of Hungary or the sultan.

The passing of the scores would come at 1442, when the prince was found amid the unstoppable progress of the Ottomans and the oath to preserve the boundaries of the empire, due to the quality of being a member of the Dragon Order. Once again, as had happened in the past, the prince decided to have a vague attitude, allowing Turkish military to pass without interference.

A costly game: Turks would be defeated, and Yanush Huniad expelled him, replacing him with Basarab 2 / 1 Vlad and his family settled in Gallipolis, near the court of Sultan Murati II, who, instead of expecting friends, imprisoned them. But in 1443 Murati decided to appoint Vladi's prince, in order to establish on the throne of that phidi so difficult a man who had deep knowledge of the Hungarian enemy.

As a guarantee of his loyalty, he demanded that God pledge his two children, Vlad and Radu. Right here, little Vlad comes into history: during his stay in the fortress of Egrigoz, in Anadol, he was educated in Ottoman ways, where he also gained the sad pleasure of torture, above all being thrown into hell as punishment.

Everything changed in 1444 when Dracula, resurfaced by Turkish aid, betrayed the sultan's trust and allied with Hungarians, who were still defeated in Varna. Vlad and Radu risked their lives, but Murati decided to forgive him by closing Radu at his harem, while Vlad had reserved a military career.

Meanwhile, in 1447, Vlad II was brutally murdered along with his son Mircea by Hungarians for his next betrayal, and was buried dishonored, with his head down, outside the doors of his palace.

On the Throne of Blood

For young Vlad, it was time to seek the fatherly throne. In 1448, at the head of a small contingent of junicars, the 17-year-old prince entered his homeland. Foreign ambassadors, impressed by the young man's determination, called it “Draculea”, or son of Dracul, son of the Dragon.

It would take a while. Exhausted by the Hungarian army a few months later, Vlad decided not to return to Turkey but to move to Moldova, to settle later in Transylvania, near the court of hated Janush Hunyadi, his father's killer, who received him as a son, presenting him with the evils of Hungarian diplomacy.

In the summer of 1456, at the head of a group of Hungarian soldiers, Dracula returned to Vladhi. As a first measure, it orders the extermination of all painters involved in the plot that he had expelled in favor of Vladislav II a few years earlier.

In 1459 he invited the painters of the above ranks to a banquet that ended with the bloody extermination of all guests. Those who did not die in stakes in the palace courtyard were deported and sentenced to forced labor at the construction site of the castle over the Arges River.

During this second reign, my life story (1456-462) gave birth to Dracula's bloody myth and began to spread, and his nickname “eczetator”. The ambassadors of all Europe sent information on the frightening exploits of this bloody prince, who wiped out entire villages indiscriminately slaughtered women and children, placing hundreds of people in stakes and establishing his authority thanks to the unconditional use of violence.

Betrayal!

Actually, Dracula realized that the only way to have the loyalty of wealthy Saxon painters and merchants, who guaranteed economic prosperity principles, was to the thorough renovation of the corrupt ruling class. The thieves were subjected to unto untold torture, and the traitors were trapped in stakes.

Vlad focused on himself the absolute power, enshrining the image of his judges and the god of his people: awaiting ambassadors as diplomatic duties, but not making any sort of concessions and negotiations. He was indignant in the face of the Turkish emissaries, asking them why they did not remove the call in respect; when they replied that their law prevented him from appearing on his face, he threw them into the skull to ensure that they never again fell into the lure of disobedience.

If a Gypsy went to the palace and told him that he was carrying his child, he would open his belly with a sword to ensure that she was not lying. It takes a long, long time to order the severe punishment of a poor woman, guilty of allowing her husband to come out with wet clothes.

Negotiated with Turks and Hungarians without promising loyalty to anyone, even though he respected his father's oath to the emperor. He lashed out in the rich town of Brasov, ordering Saxon merchants, guilty of hosting a political opponent, to dig a stake in the hill, where he himself sought to set up a table to sit among the decomposing corpses.

Meanwhile, Ottoman Army, led by new Ottoman Muhamed II, attacking Vladi crossing the Danube: Vladi, whose forces were smaller in number but more persistent, asked Mattia Corvinos, king of Hungary for help. But he, lured by money, left him without help, betraying him.

Vlad did not retreat and fight as a lion on the Danube: at the command of a handful of people organised a violent night attack on the Turkish camp, slaughtered generals and soldiers. Followed and isolated at his castle in Arges, he continued his heroic resistance until November 1462, when he was forced to leave for Transylvania.

It did not serve much for the trick of putting back the horsespoons to lie to the pursuers. The real enemy was the one who received him with his arms wide across the border. Upon arrival in Brasovo, Dracula was arrested by Mattias soldiers on charges of high treason built with clever evidence: Vlad had to be taken out because he was the only witness to illegally embezzlement funds on the part of the king.

Accompanied to the Visegrad castle, north of Budapest, Vlad remained <x0miesher” of King Mattia for twelve years. Dracula's fame would spread thanks to a series of reports written by ambassadors: Mattia kept the dragon in her cage, those who chronically prefer to call it “Wlad Devil” (but who had won Pope Pius II's admiration) by confessing the worst acts to justify his hostage.

A Mystery End

A long period of inactivity would follow, during which she would marry a cousin of King Mattias converting to Catholic religion in hopes of changing his condition. Then, in 1473, Vlad would be sent to Transylvania to halt a new Ottoman invasion and regain ownership of the Vlach throne.

In 1476 the painters were able to greet him again as king, but the situation was far from peaceful. During a collision, perhaps confused with an enemy or betrayed by his commanders, Vlad fell into battle. There are those who say that his head was sent to Constantinople in a bridge filled with honey as a gift to the Sultan; others said his body was sent to the monastery of Snagov.

Excavations were conducted in 1931 at the site where his grave was thought to be located, but only animal bones were found there. In the same year, in America, Hungarian Bella Lugos would first play the role of Dracula, the vampire in the official cinematic realization of the novel. /The horizon. al
