Scandalous: Belgian company sold rotten meat, even in Kosovo

In Belgium, a scandal has erupted over the quality of meat that citizens consume, following the discovery that the firm “V EVIBA”, one of the most important suppliers, has worked in unacceptable sanitation conditions, and manipulated with meat content as well as with the labels for the usage deadline.

For the first time, the suspicious meat was heard in Kosovo in 2016, when a Kosovo entrepreneur warned Belgian authorities that from V Company EVIBA had received a delivery of rotten meat. For almost two years, the company has been operating unhindered until days ago when the scandal began to be seriously addressed, reports Radio Free Europe in the Serbian language.

This news is spreading through all Belgian media, since V Company EVIBA has supplied most of the country's best-known supermarkets. The media have interviewed company workers who point to poor hygienic working conditions as well as deliberate manipulation by company owners.

Twenty inspectors and 40 police forces have participated in the investigation. Ups and downs have shown that company owners have committed a number of criminal acts. Among the findings are bones that are not destined for consumption while found in ground meat, as well as animal skin around the throat and limbs. Inspectors have also found that even the expiration date listed on the label is incorrect.

A V worker EVIBA, which has insisted on remaining anonymous, for a local television there has confirmed that he personally packed meat that was meant to be exported to Kosovo. In the interview, this witness has stated that in Kosovo's shipment they had packed meats that should not be consumed, Time.net broadcasts. Belgian authorities have confirmed that most of the meat in local supermarkets has been of good quality, meaning the meat has ended up in exports. The site of this company has since been out of operation since yesterday, and as a result, it cannot be confirmed in which countries, except Kosovo, have exported meat to this company. According to Belgian media, V EVIBA has exported meat to all of Southeast Europe and Africa.
