About 28,000 citizens of Croatia have worked in Austria over the past year, until that number goes up by 1-2 percent annually.
Austria's government has decided to ask the European Commission to extend the transition period by 2020, during which time Croats do not have full access to the Austrian labour market.
Austria is considering job seekers from Croatia to be a potential danger to the local market.
This decision was made public by Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and has also found support with President Christoph Leitl, Kosovo follows.
As one of the reasons for this is that a large number of non-employees from Croatia have begun living in Austria. There are about 4 thousand and 800 unemployed people who have come from Croatia, while now live in Austria.
The Austrian state is currently considering tourism and seasonal employment.
The EU states have the right to limit the access of workers from other states to their market. This can be done if it is estimated that the full opening of the borders negatively affects the local labour market, Kosovo Preress follows.
If Brussels approves Austria's request, then Croats will be limited to being part of the labour market in Austria by July 1st 2020. /
