The ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania expresses deep indignation and condemns hate speech and xenophobic slogans against Albanians on the surrounding walls of the Albanian Spiritual and Cultural Heritage Institute in Skopje.
This is the only time that cultural institutions that preserve and reflect Albanian history, traditions, language and culture are deliberately and incompatible by acts that seek to sow hatred, division and foster tensions among communities. These acts, right at the very moment when interethnic approach and cohesion recognises progress steps towards further strengthening are a direct attack on peace, stability and interethnic harmony in the neighbouring country. We believe these attacks are the actions of a small group of people motivated by extreme nationalist feelings, as well as the obdural actions and harmful rhetoric of the last days by segments of old policy following the adoption of the Albanian Language Use Act in Macedonia”, said in response.
The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania urges the authorities of Macedonia to clarify as soon as possible this vandal act, the investigation and accountability of authors of these attacks, which clash with the spirit of co-existence and harmony in Macedonia and throughout the region.
