Ahmad's Jahjaga discuss internationalisation of sexual victims' case during Kosovo war

During her visit to England, invited by Oxford Union Society to give speeches on women's leadership, former President of the Republic of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga met with Lord Ahmad, the prime minister's special representative for preventing sexual violence in the conflict.
According to the media report, during this meeting, Jahjaga thanked Lord Ahmad for the continued support Britain has given to Kosovo in its state-building processes, isolating the unconditional support this country has given to Kosovo in recognising and rehabilitation of sexually violent survivors during the war in Kosovo.
The former president informed Lord Ahmad of the progress Kosovo has made in this area, especially with establishing the legal structure for recognising the status of survivors as civilian victims of war.
She also related pension - shaped benefits and access to health services that this legal structure has enabled survivors.
However, Jahjaga also mentioned the challenges that survivors of sexual violence still face, especially stigma.
The former president announced to Lord Ahmad that the United Nations Organisation still does not recognise this crime that occurred in Kosovo, and Kosovo is not mentioned in reports of crime and human rights violations.
Lord Ahmad expressed interest in helping Kosovo internationalise this issue.
During this meeting, several ideas were presented to establish the subject of survivors of sexual violence during the war in Kosovo on the agenda of discussion in the international arena, with the pledge that there will be unstoppable co-operation on the issue.
