In a statement to Bulgarian television “Noova”, Zaev says the eventual solution will have to be adopted in the referendum.
The referendum should also be additional competition for our friends from the Republic of Greece, as this will definitely remove all doubts, while the people remain behind the solution, which will be accepted. “I hope we will find solutions, which are quite acceptable for both sides because the solution should ultimately preserve the dignity and identity of the two countries. Only then are friendships built, and this must be on a permanent and lasting basis. All of this is because if we're smart enough to solve this problem, we'll get the perspectives of these” decisions, Zaev says.
