The tension between Korea was the authorities' main concern, when they decided to organise the Winter Games for the first time in Pyongchang, but in fact, locals are extremely low temperatures -- those that are undermining preparations for the opening ceremony.
The delegations have warned athletes who have health problems not to attend the ceremony at the open - air stadium. Meteorologists predict the coldest Olympics in history, and for those coming from traditionally warm countries, it will truly be a total shock.
There will also be problems for organisers and infrastructure, as there are no exceptions to delays of hours of activities due to massive snow. Pyongchang will become the first South Korean city to host the Winter Games this Friday. Because of the involvement of North Korea, troubled communist neighbours and frequent threats to war in the region, this edition is being described as the one of peace.
In the bow of 16 days, athletes from 92 countries around the globe will be the ones who will target coveted medals -- and among them -- with the red flag -- will be two Albanian skiers, Erjon Tola and Samantha Mohill.
