Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri has met with Turkish Deputy Justice Minister Bilal Ucar.
Tahiri says the Turkish justice official has discussed rule of law, the fight against organised crime and judicial co-operation.
“Profiling rule of law, fighting organised crime and corruption, and strengthening international judicial co-operation remain among the fundamental priorities of my mandate. I shared these issues with Deputy Justice Minister of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Bilal Ucar. I appreciated Turkey's support for Kosovo, especially in terms of recognitions and expressed readiness to further cultivate good interstate relations”, Tahiri has announced, writes Periscopi.
But, Minister Tahiri says he has expressed his concern for failing to implement the Turkish agreement Kosovo for the extradition of Kosovo citizens suspected of terrorism.
“at the same time, I expressed my concern about the insufficient implementation of the bilateral legal assistance agreement on the Turkish prosecution in Kosovo's demands, about the extradition of several Kosovo citizens operating in Turkey and who are suspected to have infiltrated terrorist organisations. From the Turkish deputy minister, I received confirmation and pledge that these requirements will be addressed with priority. Terrorism and organised crime are among the major trans-nationalist threats in the world today that affect both our states, and require joint commitment to their fight”, Tahiri/Periscope.
