Lavrov has been hosted at Belgrade Airport by his Serbian counterpart, Ivica Dacic and Ambassador Aleksandar Cepurin.
Lavrov is expected tomorrow to hold several meetings, including with Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq and Prime Minister Ana Brnabiq.
In the agenda of meeting with Lavrov state representatives, the situation in the region and Russia's support for Kosovo, as well as the still unresolved issue of Russian humanitarian centre status in Nis, which was reported to be suspected as a spying centre.
Different days earlier, Russian diplomacy chief Sergei Lavrov has said the term full normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia has been invented by the European Union.
“We agreed that the EU assumed the role of mediator in dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, I think such dialogue is necessary and that its base should be Resolution 1244. The EU, when asking the UN General Assembly to obtain mediation authorization and received such authorization, the resolution was adopted and we strongly hope that Brussels will make additional efforts to somehow move forward. You mentioned the term “the complete normalization of relations”. This term was invented by the EU itself, and until now, as far as I can remember, Brussels has not explained what the term” implies, Lavrov said.
