Tony Chapron fell to the ground when his legs were apparently accidentally touched by Diego Carlos of Nantes during a French league match last month against Paris Saint-Germain.
But Chapron, 45, did not sit back and react by interfering with the player, who he then punished for the second time with the yellow man, respectively.
The judge who was suspended after the match was awarded his sentence by a French league disciplinary commission on Thursday afternoon.
Chapron was sentenced to six months' detention, but his sentence was suspended in just three months of effective detention.
The Frenchman has been judge at France's highest championship since 2004 and claimed responsibility for more than 400 matches so far, including the French Cup final in 2014.
Before the incident, he had announced that this would be his last season as a judge, but not everything ended up being the best.
By contrast, Chapron is known for several others, one of whom is refusing to give the ball to Zlatan Ibrahimovic after a marked hetrik. /Telegraphy/
