The Maldive government has today declared a state of emergency of 15 days, due to the deep political crisis affecting the country, following disagreements between the country's president, Jamin Abdul Gaius and the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court's decision last week to release prisoners from the opposition has led to an increase in the political crisis in the country, as the president criticised the tribunal, while the conflict between opposition supporters and the government has increased.
The government has demanded from justice bodies that in no way try to arrest the country's president.
