Where the national flag has been deployed to the main circle in Pristina for years, some young people on Facebook are demanding that the same be replaced with the Kosovo flag. Returning the Kosovo flag is required on just the 10th anniversary of independence.
Pristina Mayor Shpend Ahmeti has said he is not responsible for returning the flag of the Republic of Kosovo to the entrance of Pristina.
“She has never been the responsibility of the Pristina municipality. It's not even signed by protocol that the flag there should be either way or so. Then he didn't remove the municipality, so that's what the citizens did, and that's what the national flag was set up. This shows that it is not our responsibility even to return the Kosovo flag. This remains to be discussed in the coming days”, Ahmeti has said in Klan Kosova.
Kosovo citizens, on the other hand, are calling for this to happen on the eve of the 10th anniversary of Kosovo's Independence.
“We are not against the red and black flag, which has a symbol for our entire nation, but for the February 17th festival of Kosovo's 10th anniversary of independence from the Pristina municipality, and its chairman Shpend Ahmeti is seeking to deploy the flag of independence -- that is, the flag of the Republic of Kosovo” -- said in this initiative that is organised on Facebook.
