At the table organised by the American Oda, titled “Women's Promoting at the Undertaking and Placement”, it has been discussed the challenges women face, starting with the small number of employed women, low wages and a host of other challenges.
Atifete Jahjaga, former Kosovo president, said the issue of empowering the woman's role is becoming more important, adding that their role is important in the economic development and stability and prosperity of the country.
Long-time “Gras have been denied rights that are human rights that allow them to have a dignified life. The right to vote, participating in property policy, access to financial resources. We are witnessing the improvement in the role of women in society, the progress we see today has not taken place automatically but because of the ongoing struggle of our society. It was thanks to brave women who broke gender stereotypes”, Jahjaga said.
While, Florije Xhemajli, project manager at the Jahjaga Foundation, said 82 per cent of women are unemployed. According to Xhemajli, even the entrepreneur is a small number of women, about 10 per cent.
Lisa Magno, U Mission ChiefAID in Kosovo said only 20 per cent of women work in Kosovo, while 10 per cent of women are leaders of entrepreneurship.
She said that W AID is committed to helping Kosovo women. She has encouraged women in the entrepreneur to treat dignifiedly employed women.
