Following the Kosovo Government's decision on the tax on Serbia's products, the inspection of bread ovens in Kosovo has begun. Gezim Konjusha from Pristina does not trust ovens in Pristina. For that reason he has purchased an adequate oven in his own house to cook his own loaves.

“I bought cars for the production of bread, because we are no longer trusting Pristina ovens”, states for RTV Dukagjin, citizen Guzim Konjusha.

And the light Bucaj, when she goeth into the oven, she shall not measure her burden: for she trusteth in the place where she buyeth the loaves.

I usually don't weigh bread because I trust the oven in which I buy it. They prepare bread and all the good food”, says citizen Drita Bucaj.

Kosovo Institute of Metrology Director-General Ferki Fyza says the oven control decision was taken on 22 November after the tax on Serbia's products. He says he'll go on as long as he needs.

The purpose of this decision has been to make extraordinary verification of certain businesses, in this case bread ovens, to prove that bakers make their bread as declared. If in declaration in a furnace marks that the bread has 1 kilograms or 400 grams, then we are obligated to verify whether the bread really has that weight”, Ferki Feyza said.

On the basis of electronic response, the Ministry of Trade and Industry says it has managed to conduct about 100 checks in the bakery, and some of them were fined if they did not comply with the weight of bread at its price.

In Prizren, 3 furnaces have been fined, while in Pristina and Fushe Kosovo so far, 7 furnaces have been fined.

Fines, according to the top inspector, Lulzim Syla, have amounted to 1,000 euros.
