The number of teams in Europe League will be halved to 32, while the newest competition matches will be played Thursday, Periscope broadcast.
Other teams from smaller countries will go directly to the qualifications UEL2) instead of the Europe League preliminary rounds.
The new competition and Europe League will have the same format as eight groups of four teams with winners going to the top 16 round.
There will be a play-off before that round for teams that end up second in groups and teams that end up in third place in Europe League.
The winner of the tournament will qualify for Europe League the following season.
At least 34 states will have teams in a group phase, compared to 26 at the moment./Periscopi
