It will not automatically be named in the position of the Chancellor, but it is likely in case of Mrs. Merkel's resignation or in case of her dismissal. On the other hand, Angela Merkel has stated that she is determined to maintain the position of Chancellor for the next three years, while 56 percent of Germans supported her decision.
Kramp-Carrenbauer has faced some challenges during the party chairmanship race. She has tried to look like she's supporting Merkel, but has also given clear signs that she will send the party in a new direction.
