Mark Manson, author of the book “The Subtle Art of Not Givin a F*ck”, has shown us the secret of a long and successful relationship. And, obviously, the secret is very simple.
Manson believes that a relationship should be as boring as possible. Although this may seem strange to most people, just imagine this: an 80-year-old couple who have been together for 60 years, the reason they've been together all these years is not because they've had private planes or crazy holidays.
But the reason they stayed together is because they were able to stay together even when they were upset with each other.
Such couples are able to spend year after year sitting at home, talking to them the same boring things, watching TVs, movies, cooking and everything works fine.
There's nothing exciting about couples like this, no bombers, no big dramas, no plates flying towards each other.
It's important that people understand this because, especially today, most people don't want to be boring. They want to get very interesting and have an interesting life, but that just really hurts the relationship in most cases. In most cases, what makes you interesting and complex, in romantic life, makes you a terrible person.
As strange as it sounds, I think we should cultivate more anger in our lives, because frustration must be right. It should be viewed as a good thing and I think it's definitely a good thing for a healthy” relationship.
