Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri has been hosting the Kosovo University and College Rectors with whom he has discussed the need to modernise the curriculum in preparing lawyers for labour market needs today, it becomes known through a media communiqué.
Legal education and law education, according to Tahiri, is vital to consolidating the rule of the Law in Kosovo, since frameworks for this system are prepared by educational institutions.
Tahiri has called for improving the quality of practical learning and teaching and training applications in the judicial field through the theoretical and practical approach of learning, as well as assessing the needs of the labour market, in reviewing research programmes, with emphasis on skills and competences, in order to modernise the curriculum for preparation of lawyers.
“Sic notes, addressing these challenges, exceeds the responsibilities of a single institution, therefore, it is important to continue and expand the working and inter-institutional co-operation for promoting policies that instruct and stimulate law field students to adopt the necessary skills of the labour market” has said Tahiri, broadcast Koha.net.
He has also called for proposals of new teaching programmes before being sent to the Kosovo Agency for Accreditation to include consulting with law-rule sector institutions and other potential employers in order to deal with labour market needs.
In this context, Tahiri has stressed the importance of signing the Co-operation Agreements for offering professional practice to students in all potential institutions and employers, but has also called for the construction of the Juridical Centres or Clinics, which will enable practical knowledge even within educational institutions themselves.
