Two recent studies suggest that even 10 minutes of rapid walking and meditation can improve your emotional state. Meditating may even have some advantages over walking to reduce anxiety. The discussion compared the effects of ten minutes of rapid walking, meditation, and sitting down. The study considered three mood fields: depression, anger, and fatigue. Ten minutes of meditation reduced the extent of depression and anger considerably. Walking and meditating together reduced the amount of fatigue. Another study, in the “The American Journal of Health Promotion”, found meditation to be a key component. Researchers measured anxiety for youths who were mid - age 21 and found that just 10 minutes of meditation and walking forward or after meditation significantly reduced anxiety.
However, walking without reflection did not even change the level of anxiety. So, just give yourself 10 minutes a day and everything will be fine.
