America's number one said Mattis will retire in February 2019.
Mattis, 68, is one of the most respected figures in the Trump administration. But he has reportedly become increasingly opposed to the president's leadership.
In particular, he is reported not to have been informed of the decision taken by Trump on Wednesday, to withdraw troops from Syria.
“You have the right to have a defence secretary whose views are more consistent with your”, told Mattis, Trump, in his letter of resignation.
We remember Mattis was always a friend of Kosovo, who also gave his support for the formation of the Kosovo Army. /Periscopi/
