Threats SBASK: If demands are met, there will be total paralysis of education

Educators of all educational levels in Kosovo are expecting that by the end of this month, the relevant institutions will meet the requirements for increasing their salary cofficiency, as well as adopting the law, under which the work of teachers working in the nineties will be paid off.

Otherwise, they will take union action.

So has he made known in an interview for KosovaPress the chairman of the SBASK, Nundman Jasharaj, where he has said that even any future wage increases are not meant to affect the teacher's position.

He expects the government and the Commission for Education, Science and Culture to comply with SBASK requirements.

And we're looking at the Law of Salaries and I'm saying, we're going to do our best at meetings with our minister, but also at meeting with the prime minister to fix issues with dialogue because teachers should have the merit seat. We're looking for no less, no more. And if it doesn't, then we as a natural reaction will go with union action, which I fear will be a general strike. Even the nests have asked to join us. We will have a total paralysis of education, because others, nests along with universities will be on strike. Which the SBASK does not want at all”, he said.

However, Jasharaj has indicated that this will not happen this month, as they are interested in meeting their demands through dialogue.

And, we want the opinion to understand that we have no other way out because on strike you go and the strike law says strike goes on when you don't produce any result of dialogue”, the SBASK chairman stressed.

Jashara has also talked about the bill on wages, saying it is degrading to the education system.

“We have struggled with our chances of this bill being good for all, and separately for the education sector, but the opposite proved to be. Even after our remarks, this bill remains as a current version, degrading to the educational system from the clinics at the University”, Jasharaj said.

Asked whether the SBASK has overlooked the importance of establishing the quality of education in the country by dealing more with demands for salary growth, Jasharaj says these two are closely related.

And for the quality of education to be established in Kosovo, he adds that the state must share tools to equip schools with contemporary equipment.

If we're okay with this law, the directors and others won't be able to tell the teachers you go on an hour because they'll reason, say where we are, what position we are in.
