The chairman of the International Commission for Free Flight (CIVL), Stephanie Malbos, communicated today that the World Preciziing Championship has been cancelled, which had to be held from May 15th to May 25th 2019.
“due to political tensions between Serbia and Kosovo and the International Olympic Committee's policy about participating sports delegations and athletes in sports events (progress of autonomy and discrimination), Serbia's 10th World Presidenting Championship has been cancelled. We'll inform you of the developments on the following”, Malbos' statement said.
Kosovo Aeronautics Federation Secretary Ardall Celine confirmed the decision to abort.
It is the right decision, however sorry the Federation has been forced to decide to cancel the event. Under Olympic rules, no member should be discriminated against”, Celine said.
The decision has been made so that the situation does not come as if it happened earlier with athletes from Kosovo”, Celine said, referring to stops from Serbia with which Kosovo athletes, handballists and karateists faced years ago.
“We were interested in participating, even in ongoing discussions with the international federation”, said Arkalla Celine.
