Aleksandar Mitrovic has acknowledged that he has been humiliated after losing the penalty in an effort to score “Paneka” in Serbia's victory over Montenegro in the League of Nations.
The match in Belgrade was going perfectly for Mitorvic, as he doubled Serbs' supremacy just two minutes after Adem Ljajic scored the first goal in the 30th minute.
Fulham's attacker then had the chance to mark 3-0 from the penalty point before the end of the first piece. The 24-year-old defeated the goalkeeper, but his penalty in style “Panka” did not end up in the net but above the gate.
Fortunately for him, Serbia finally won 2-1.
Speaking after the match, Mitrovic found that his decision to hunt the penalty in such a way was inspired by Holland attacker Memphis Depay, who on Friday marked the “Panka” in the Netherlands' 2-0 victory over France.
I have no idea why I did it. I was looking at Depaly yesterday and I decided to do the same at the last moment. I'm a fool... ”, Mitrovic said.
