Kosovo's trade deficit in the month of October is the highest of 13.7 per cent.

Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASS) suggests that data from foreign trade in Kosovo points to a higher trade deficit of 13.7 percent in October 2018, in proportion to the same period in 2017, worth 270.5 million euros, compared to the deficit of 238.0 million euros in 2017.

According to the AKS, export covers import by 12.4 per cent.

In October, there was increased import and export of goods.

“Export of goods in October 2018 was worth 38.3 million euros, while import 308.8 million euros, which is a 12.5% export increase and 13.5% import, compared to the same period in 2017<18x>, reveal data published by the Statistics Agency.

According to key export data, the AKS says that 41.5 percent of exports make up basic metals and articles; 12.3 percent make up plastic, tires, and articles; 9.2 percent make up prepared foods, drinks, and tobacco; 8.0 percent make up minerals; 6.6 percent make up plant products; 4.4 percent make up chemical industry products; 3.7 percent make up different products; 2.7 percent make up machinery, mechanical equipment, and etc.

According to major import groups, mineral products and base metals are participating at a higher rate in import.

“While, according to key import group data: 16.2% of imports make up mineral products; 12.4% make up basic metals and articles; 11.4% make up machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment; 10.0% make up prepared foods, drinks and tobacco; 7.7% make up transport tools; 7.0% make up chemical industry products; 6.9% make up plastics, tires and items from them; 5.7% of the text and its articles from etc. ”, shows the communique.

Kosovo goods exchange with EU countries

The AKS suggests that Kosovo exports to EU countries reached 10.3m euros, or about 26.9 per cent of total exports, with an increase of 11.4 per cent.

Key partners for export of goods to the EU are: Germany 6.1 percent, the Netherlands 3.8 percent, Slovenia 2.5 percent.

The data shows that imports from EU countries increased by over 9 per cent.
When, Kosovo imports from EU countries were around 124.4m euros, or 40.3% of total imports, with an increase of 9.6%. Imports with higher turnout were from: Germany (10.7%), Italy (4.5%), Spain (4.1%), Slovenia (3.4%), Greece (2.8%), etc.”, suggests the communique.

Kosovo's trade with CEFTA countries

Kosovo exports to CEFTA countries dropped for more than 7 per cent. Kosovo's foreign export partner remains Albania.

In October 2018, Kosovo's exports with CEFTA countries reached 16.0m euros, or 41.9% of total exports, with a drop of (7.3%). Key export partners from CEFTA countries were: Albania (18.6%), Macedonia (10.4%), Serbia (8.2%), and Montenegro (3.0%)“, the communique shows.
Under the other side The AKS says imports from CEFTA countries in the month of October 2018 reached 86.2m euros, or 27.9 per cent of total imports, with a 15.6 per cent increase.

The countries with the highest share in import was: Serbia 12.3 percent, Albania 7.4 percent, Macedonia 5.1 percent and B&H 2.6 percent.

Kosovo vs countries around the world

In October, to other countries of the world, Kosovo exported about 12m euros with primary partners India.

Kosovo's <x0ports with other countries of the world reached 11.9m euros, or 31.3%. As more important partners from these export countries, it's worth mentioning: India (18.1%) and Switzerland (8.0%)”, the communique says.

While, Kosovo's imports with other countries of the world reached 98.1m euros, or 31.8 per cent. The countries with the highest share in import in this group were: Turkey 10.2 percent and China 9.7 percent.

In November, the Government of Kosovo imposes a 100 percent tax on products originating from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On the other side a month ago, more than 37.8m euros of goods were imported from Serbia to Kosovo in proportion to the same month of a year ago, a negligible decline of less than one percent as high as 38.1m euros.

Unlike Serbia, imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina increased in October for about 3m euros. Out of 5.6m euros in the month of October a year ago, they amounted to 8m euros.

On the other side of the decline were Kosovo's even small exports towards Serbia. Out of over 1.9m euros last October, they fell to 1.1m euros month this October.

Also, exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina from 943 thousand euros in October a year ago dropped to 649m euros this year. /Call. com
