The Democrats are expected to have a majority in Congress, but what exactly does that mean for President Trump?

As stated, the Democrats won several key races Tuesday. However, they did not realise what was being called the “blue” victories in the Congress election. Meanwhile, it is reported that the Republicans have kept most of them in the Senate. “The Chamber of Democrats will work for solutions that will bring us closer together. [...]

Meanwhile, it is reported that the Republicans have kept most of them in the Senate.

The Chamber of Democrat Representatives will work for solutions that will bring us closer together. We have a lot of” divisions, the leader of the Democrats said in the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi.

But according to the media, Republicans have so far controlled the entire Congress. While in the Senate there has been a narrow majority (51-49 in favour of Republicans), it is possible that this will increase for a country or two.

In the meantime, the House of Representatives, in which the Republicans had a comfortable <x0).8x1> (236-193), the Republicans were lost as expected, but that defeat is not estimated as catastrophic.

The complete composition of the House of Representatives and Senate will be known only after the closure of polling stations throughout the country and after receiving final results.

However, the estimates are that the Democrats have 229 seats and Republicans 206 in the House of Representatives.

With a majority in the House of Representatives, the media write that the Democrats will have the opportunity to expand President Trump”' tax statements, possible conflicts of interest and alleged ties with Russia in the 2016 campaign.

They will also be able to disrupt some of his legislative ambitions and such efforts to build a wall on the border with Mexico.

Changes in the Senate and Congress

In elections for governors, the Democrats have taken three or four positions from the republics, but they lost their important races such as those in Florida or Ohio.

In the elections, which are traditionally held in the middle of the current president's mandate, writes Index.hr, 435 members of the House of Representatives -- 35 out of 100 Senate members and 36 of the 50 state governors, as well as numerous other state and local officials.

And Americans in large numbers went to the polls, elections that are considered to be some kind of referendum on the president.

Historically, the president's party in the middle of its mandate has rarely avoided a protest vote and defeat.

Americans in these polls have so far chosen the youngest woman in Congress, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (29), Democrat of New York, who was elected to the House of Representatives.

Also, voters in Minessota and Michigan elected the first two Muslim women -- former refugee from Somalia Ilhan Omar and Palestinian-American Rashid Tlaib born in Detroit.

In addition, the state of Colorado has elected the first declared homosexual governor, the Democrat Jared Polis.

It becomes known that the mandate of newly elected lawmakers will begin on 1 January 2019, while these elections are considered the beginning of Trump's 2020 election campaign.

What's Congress and what Senate?

The Democrats took control of the House of Representatives in this election, but the Republicans held the Senate.

But what is the difference between them?

The U.S. has two “chamber”: one more “low”, called the House of Representatives and a “above”, called the Senate.

For bills to become law, they must pass through both.

But when Democrats control one and the other Republicans, what does that mean for Donald Trump?

What is the House of Representatives?

There are 435 members of the House of Representatives who are considered the closest equivalent of the United Kingdom deputies.

They're there to represent their local population in Congress and they're people who can go if they have any problems with how the country is developing.

They are re-elected every two years in all US elections and among them.

What is the Senate?

There are 100 U.S. Senators two for each state.

As the House of Representatives works for the local population, senators are there to represent state interests.

Senators are re-elected every six years, namely, about a third of them are elected in every medium term and in elections.

But what happens when different parties control the state?

With Democrats controlling the House of Representatives and Republicans controlling the Senate, it will be very difficult to pass any law.

This occurred in the last two years of Barak Obama's presidency when he tried to make a difference after the Republicans rejected his laws.

Without controlling the two institutions, Donald Trump is now obliged to rely on one of them controlled by the Democrats to pass his bills, which under current circumstances, seems almost impossible.

With 2020 elections on the horizon, this will likely prove extremely difficult, namely, it will have difficulty making significant changes over the next two years.

Winning Congress also means that the Democrats gain control of several commissions they can use to launch possible investigations against Trump.
