The mayor, Berisha-Shala, said the only reason for this visit is that you can find products here from all parts of the world, but not from Serbia and Bosnia, which Kosovo has recently imposed an additional 10 per cent tax on their goods.
Berisha-Shala said that the model for respecting the consumer protection law is exactly, the APUus store. According to her, all other stores should take an example of this store.
“We've come up just to see how much, in this case, the consumer protection law. We have seen this extremely important point that this law is implemented here and is a model for all of Kosovo, in all other markets that sell retail goods”, Berisha-Shala said.
She added that space and opportunity should be given to local products, as Berisha said- Shala will also make merchants aware.
But the chairman of the Economic Development Commission has shown fears that this tax can cause consumer basket to increase.
“We as a state should behave in favor of our citizens and our state, we should seek reciprocity with other states... we fear that the market, there may be movement of products... traders can exploit this and consumer baskets will be more expensive”, she said.
The owner of the store “Plus”, Sylejman Neziri said that even though the visit is delayed, it is welcome. He stressed that Serbia's product tax is welcome and that, according to him, it should increase.
Neziri, has also led the prosecution towards the Government of Kosovo, which according to him is blocking him due to a certificate, which, according to him, must provide for itself.
In this case, it requires the heads of state of Albania and Kosovo to ease their jobs when buying goods from Albania.
“We have submitted a request to Fatmir Limaj Edi Rama and Ramush Haradinaj to make your bill worth... This will be a historic step for our people, which means that when I go to Albania I can get goods wherever I go, like buying me in Pristina, like Tirane was the same”, Neziri said.
Vlasnim Osmani from the Kosovo Producers Club said the purpose of this visit is awareness that there are stores that do not carry Serbian products, and consumer law is respected. He asked citizens to buy local products.
“We beg Kosovo consumers to return from Kosovo products, Kosovo products have a proven quality, this proves in this supermarket here... is a testimony that the quality exists, to take that aspect that we have in our mind for a long time that Kosovo products are not good, but Kosovo products are quality and are selling in all countries of the world”, Osmani said.
Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Enver Hoxhaj visited this shop in Ferizaj yesterday, along with representatives from the Kosovo Producers Club.
