According to Turkish media data, numerous foreign guests will take part in the opening ceremony, including heads of state and government, as well as transport ministers. So far, reportedly over 50 top officials have confirmed participation, while the ceremony will be attended worldwide.
The airport has been built in a space of 76.5m square metres, while six billion euros have been invested in opening the first phase.
Meanwhile, the second phase is expected to be completed by 2023. About ten thousand workers have been hired to build the airport, which will be the largest in the world.
After completion of the works, the airport will consist of six separate tracks with a capacity for 500 aircraft, open parking lots and closed with capacity for 70 thousand vehicles, and annually will serve 200 million passengers.
