Former boss of MI6 has said that all evidence indicates that Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia was after the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, and that the theory that external elements in the Saudi army have done so is “trill blatant”, writes The Guardian, in Albanian Periscopi.
Sir John Sabers told the BBC that these thoughts were based on his talks with important sources in Whitehall and on knowledge he had received from intelligence services in Turkey.
Comments were made after US President Donald Trump had said he claimed that Khashogi was dead and that the consequences for Saudi Arabia would be very serious if the leaders of this country were identified as guilty of the murder.
Sabers, who was head of the British Secret Service by 2014, also claims the prince could have acted only if he had permission from the White House to act as he wished.
