Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has hosted the top delegation from the German government, led by State Secretary at the Defence Ministry Thomas Richard Silberhorn and Maria Flachsbarth, State Secretary of the Ministry for Economic Co-operation.
At a media conference, executive head Ramush Haradinaj said the moment has come that the presence of German soldiers in Prizren is replaced with an innovative economic development park.
That, according to him, will help deepen co-operation with Germany even further.
“Today is the day of Germany's unification. This day is marked as a holiday day in Kosovo. German soldiers have successfully carried out their task. Their presence continues at KFOR”, he said.
State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Thomas Richard Silberhorn said this moment is important as the time has come for the camp to be transferred to the hands of the Kosovo side.
It is a privilege for us to show the public in Kosovo that our military activity in Kosovo has been successful in the way we have contributed. The last 20 years 27 German soldiers have given their lives in Kosovo, as many Kosovo families have been sacrificed and their sacrifice has not been wasted”, he said.
Maria Flachsbarth, state secretary at the Ministry for Economic Co-operation, said today is a historic day.
Germany's Unification Day is based on the integration of the surrounding states. This is a historic day in which we spend the camp from military exploitation to civilian exploitation. In this way developmental cooperation can be created. Yesterday I created a Kosovo mirror and it is important that young people offer opportunities. I've seen great potential, especially becoming the IT field. Prizren soldiers return to Pristina, while the ministry continues to be there. I have great satisfaction that the Government of Kosovo takes over military camp as a training park” she said as she added that she feels satisfaction that the German government and Kosovo will together lead this training park.
