According to police around 20,000 people have gathered to protest the new coalition government, which includes the far-right Freedom Party (FPO).
Among the protesters were students, left groups and pensioners who kept plaques on which “did not allow Nazi governance”.
Austrian police have said 1,000 officials were on duty during the organisation, until the event was described peacefully, writes the REL.
They have called for the boycott of FPO ministers by other European governments.
