“It is known the Church's stance on our holy place and strongly believe that there will be no disagreement on this matter”, said Patriarch Irinej, who has thus dismissed some media speculations about divisions in the Serbian Orthodox Church, promoted by the Amfilohije machine.
As “Novosti” writes, the patriarch did not want to be released in the interpretation of rumors, being classical in his stance, that for the Serbian people, unity is necessary in all areas, not only in resolving Kosovo's complex problem, Telegrafi is quoted.
The Serbian newspaper writes that several media in recent days have speculated that, supposedly, several bishops tried to collect signatures to hold an extraordinary Serbian Orthodox Parliament, in which attitudes regarding the Kosovo settlement proposal, for which now and several months at national institutions and all circles of Serbian society are developing open dialogue.
Mitrovici Amfilohije had said he fears that President Vuciq's “policy was leading towards the surrender of Kosovo and Metohija”.
Shortly after that statement, Patriarch Irinej estimated that Aleksandar Vuciq “is fighting as a lion for our holy land”.
According to the paper, these two conflicting positions had served as the distribution of rumours of auditorial positions within the Serbian Orthodox Church regarding the Kosovo issue. /Telegraphy/
