Kosovo's Economic Oda has called on local institutions to clearly determine the advance of the country's European agenda, as the new enlargement strategy, drafted by the European Commission, which is expected to be published in February, will define the path of integration process for all Western Balkan countries, including Kosovo.
“We need to seize the importance of the year 2018, of the integration process and in EU reports with Balkan countries. Ratifications of demarcation, fighting crime and corruption in content, as well as completing the process of normalising relations with Serbia, are a powerful signal for our dedication on the European road and would offer a political and legal stability, which remains one of the main pillars of economic development for any country in transition”, the communiques say.
OEK warns that if the country's institutions fail to act quickly and take advantage of the moment being created, delays will be inevitable, while those who will suffer most will be the citizens and businesses of the country.
No one can constantly match our agendas. The EU in the coming year will be limited to decision-making as a result of the European Parliament elections, so any delay in the first months of this year will make it impossible both visa liberalisation and progress in the European integration process, for a long term of”, said in the communique.
