If we go back to retrospect and look at other countries with similar problems, then my impression is that the path to the European Union runs through these and not just these international obligations. Croatia, for example, was on hold on its integration path until it has fully co-operated with international justice, which has clarified everything before it opened the entry gate and accession to the European Union. However, the country is already in a very unfavourable position with the initiative for reshaping the Special Court, the sooner it was granted reconciliation once in a while, Hoti has declared the New Age newspaper.
He has said that the initiative to abolish specials could also affect the process of recognition and that of international organisations.
“Even without this problem Kosovo is constantly facing judicial and international political conflict, while the decision in question implies international responsibility of the state that directly affects the path to the EU, recognition and membership of various international organisations”, it has indicated.
Hoti has suggested that by these actions Kosovo is putting US and EU reports to a serious test. This is already said in the open and does not make any secret. Beyond political and judicial interpretation, I think that strategically it is a very complicated situation for the fact that Kosovo puts into serious test excellent reports with our friendly countries, in particular with the US and the EU. I think this is unimaginable and the solution to this and other problems should be derived from common decisions with our friends, without which moving forward is extremely difficult, unless we say impossible”, he stressed.
Hoti has also discussed the issue of demarcation with Montenegro, which he has said should be part of the Assembly agenda in next week.
And it's really because of regret this big extension of this problem. The demarcation issue should be resolved in either case. It is incomprehensible how the initial mandates held this problem in their drawer, while these currents also do not proceed at the right pace. I think she should be on the agenda of the Parliament's work from next week”, he has said, adding that at best Kosovo would gain visa liberalisation in the second part of this year.
“If we carried out our homework assigned by the EU, I think the European Commission would reflect the fulfillment of the conditions which would eventually get the consent of the European Council that Kosovars, in the best case, in the second part of this year, to win the free visa regime”, has declared Hoti.
