Kosovo educators working free of charge

Ten teachers of Fushe-Kosovo are not included in the salary lists either for 2018.

In September of last year, these teachers have started working after signing contracts with the Fushe Kosovo municipality and have been working for free since that month.

To KALLXO.com educators say that if continued with non-paying, they will go on strike.

Fushe-Kosovo municipality deputy head Fadil Krasniqi told KALLXO.com that the municipality had made a decision to open the competition for these 10 positions, the cause of the growing number of students.

According to him, in June alone, September 562 students have been added, which is that between 37 and 42 students are located in one classroom, which is beyond normal standards.

According to him, it has forced them to receive 10 teachers, even though according to him Fushe-Kosovo needs 20 teachers.

We have made a decision last year as the Municipal Assembly to take 10 educators in the Fushe-Kosovo municipality, even though it meets the needs of 20 teachers”, he added.

However, this has not yet been supported by the Ministry of Education.

“Even though we've made every effort and applied to the Ministry of Education for increasing the number of educators, that the number of educators is linked to increasing the number of students, we've never met in support of the Ministry of Education, which is the main responsibility they should forward to the Ministry of Finance and they are putting forward in the budgetary framework that educationrs must be paid to”, Krasniqi said.

According to Krasniqi, after being selected 10 teachers, each except the director of the Government-Kosovo municipality of Education has discussed the problem of payments. According to him, each has been informed that it is not known when they will enter the salary list.

With each chosen educator, the education director has talked about paying you until we find a solution. It has not been necessary to complain to them because there is an oral agreement between the education director and those educators that there will be payment problems because they will not be able to put to the wage list”, Krasniqi said.

Durije Zeneli-Hysen, a teacher who does not figure out the salary list, has told KALLXO.com that they are still facing a lack of payments even though those at work are on schedule and are never absent.

She has demanded that it be known when they will be found on the payroll rather than expect unanswered.

We're promised to receive our salaries. We've been told that by the end of December we've got something to do but they haven't done anything. We have a conversation with the education director. We're 10 teachers, 7 in “Mihal Grameno”, 1 in “Daut Boguyevci” and two other anonymous. What's the problem we don't know”, she said.

According to her, after talks with the Fushe-Kosovo municipality, it has been promised compensation for these months for which they have not been paid, but it is required to enter the salary list.

We're told you've got something but this isn't quit. They owe us”, Zeneli-Hysen said, adding that the Kosovo Field Community has suggested that the Ministry of Education has not approved the budget.

She said that if they are not paid they will go on strike.

“We think about going on strike until the salary approval. With our salary lists”, she said.

On the other hand, the Fushe-Kosovo municipality pledged they would find a form of compensation, further away by February or March of this year.

For 2018 we'll look at some form of compensation. Those educators will not be left without salaries, but we will make efforts to find a legal right to pay those educators”, Krasniqi said.

Adding that not even in 2018 are planned for a salary list, he said he could not stop to enter a strike, but according to him the oral agreement must hold to both the teachers and the Communists.
