Hungary will hold parliamentary elections on April 8th, the country's president, Yanos Ader, announced on Thursday. Prime Minister Viktor Orban's Fidesz party is expected to win the third term in power.
Orban has spent eight years in the office to rewrite the Constitution and centralise power, completing positions at the Central Bank, the Central Auditor's office and the party's most loyal prosecutor, Reuters reports.
His reforms, such as heavy sectoral taxes and measures affecting judiciary and media, have caused conflicts with the European Union. Brussels and Budapest have also crashed over migration, which Orban strongly opposes. /Rel/
