The European Commission announced today that it will review rules dealing with restoring controls at the internal borders of Schengen space, which countries like France and Germany consider very strict in the face of the cross-border threat of terrorism.
“Codi of the Schengen border cannot be adequate enough to meet new challenges in the security plan”, the Commission for Internal Affairs, Dimitris Avramoopoulos, said today at the conclusion of a meeting of European Interior Ministers in Brussels.
“S will soon present a package of measures to strengthen the Schengen free movement area, including a proposal to update the rules of the temporary re-negotiation of controls”, Adramopolos came to the media.
This announcement comes before the deadline ends, within the next two weeks of all temporary exceptions implementing several countries to conduct border controls in the free movement area.
