The warning came from the US ambassador to Beijing, just hours after Kim Jong said his country was close to achieving this “final target”.
Speaking at a conference at the Chinese embassy in Washington, DC, Cui Tiankai also called on Donald Trump's administration to stop attacks against the communist state.
Instead, the United States should start dialogue and negotiation “, said as well.
“I honestly think that the United States should do much more, in order to have effective international co-operation on this issue,” he told reporters.
His comments came after North Korea fired a ballistic missile on Japan that landed in the Pacific Ocean. China has been the largest support of Korea's Summer and the largest exporter to the communist country, but it seems that the Chinese government's strategy has already changed.
President Donald Trump countered by saying that the communist state would feel “fire and rage” of his armed forces if it did not stop the nuclear weapons programme.
