A huge debate has erupted in Tirana in recent days, following the discovery of a letter author Ismail Kadare has sent to dictator Enver Hoxha and where he denies and denigrates his sister. While the faxes of Kadare's manuscript are rapidly circulated to nearly all media and social networks, the renowned writer has finally spoken through an interview for the Albanian “Gazeta”.
He has explained that it is a 1980 event, as he spoke about his report with his sister, the pressures of dilemmas why the letter came out now and out of which it came, the mud that was thrown today and the long-standing danger, denying that he regretted writing to the dictator, as Kadare puts it, only Enver Hoxha could protect you from Enver Hoxha. He adds that for that letter he never got an answer.
This is the only letter I wrote E. Hodge. It was said of Hoxha that something very dangerous to lose her head. I'm not sorry I wrote it”, explains Kadare.
My “My sister speaks badly politically, and that she has been summoned to the investigator for this thing”, is the word that the great writer wrote 37 years ago Enver Hoxha, who is being crucified today, but even after so many years he does not repent.
