Why parents refuse to vaccinate children in the United States

In the last 12 months, 35 children of measles have died in Europe. The Bor Health Organization has named this “an unacceptable tragedy”.

Death could have been prevented by a mere vaccine. Here in America, in the state of Minnesota, about 24 persons have been hospitalised by the spread of measles.

However, some parents in developed countries continue to believe in incorrect reports that measles vaccine can cause autism in children. That is why a number of parents refuse to vaccinate their children for other diseases.

It was the vaccine that ended the smallpox epidemic. Another vaccine led to polio extinction. Vaccines prevent flu, hepatitis, liver cancer, cervical, mouth, and about 12 other diseases.

Vaccinates have saved the lives of countless people and have prevented extreme suffering. Scientists are now working on the SIDE vaccine, malaria and tuberculosis.

“immunization and vaccines are the most powerful public health tools we have,”- says the expert.

But one of the most effective vaccines, the one for the prevention of measles, hoes, and rubella, is facing parental resistance because of a discredited fake study that linked the vaccine to autism. Some parents oppose the use of all vaccines.

We don't want to force parents to make decisions on their children. It's their decision if they want to vaccinate children,” says an activist.

In the United States, vaccine is a matter of parents ' right:

“In the state of Texas, we have 50,000 children whose parents refuse to vaccinate,”- says a doctor.

Doctors strongly support the benefit of vaccines. Medical doctor Hope Scott lost her daughter to pneumokok meningitis five years before the vaccine for the disease was released.

I would give anything to vaccinate my daughter to save her life, but I didn't have that chance. I find it hard to understand why people make the choice not to protect their children,” she says.

But convincing opposers that vaccines play a role in making their children grow up healthy is not easy.

I think attitude towards people who object to the use of vaccines is to respect their thinking and not be criticized, but to be explained by convincing facts, why the benefit from vaccines is enormous,”- says Dr. Faucie.

In an article published in the newspaper “Seattle Times”, the expert on autism Annette Estes writes that “health specialists must urgently find a way out of the created deadlock and uncover links between those who oppose immunization and the medical community. ”

The American Medical Association plans to continue to promote public confidence in vaccine safety. Some European countries have already made vaccination for measles and other diseases mandatory.
