Kosovo's Special Prosecutor claims Agim Sahiti from Sopia of Suhareka, in co-operation with Serbian forces, committed crimes in this village exactly in the Elshani family while attending the deportation of Albanian villagers from Sopia.
In the statement that Sahitaj has given before the judge of the preliminary procedure, except he has declared innocence, he has said that several times since the post-war had visited the village and that he had not been persecuted by anyone.
I have my brothers in the village, and whenever I come from Germany I visit”, Sahiaj said.
The Special Prosecutor claims that during wartime in Kosovo, in April 1999, suspect Agim Sahiti, informed and armed, has acted together with members of Serb forces where they have killed, wounded, beaten, tortured, robbed and forcibly expelled from their homes and in Albania the Albanian civilian population. Special Prosecutor Silas Hoxha, while reading the request on the appointment of the detention measure, has declared that the suspect in co-ordination has committed crimes against Albanian civilians.
“During 1999, on April 2nd, Agim Sahitaj, along with members of Serbian forces entered a house in the village of Sopi in Suhareka, where he also wounded in the right leg S.E., while killing the A.K. site, then the suspect shot towards A.E., but unfortunately he didn't shoot<18>, the procurator of the Syla Hoxha case said. “Also, on the same critical day, co-ordination with other people has taken part in looting, beating, torturing, and that on the same day in Sopi village, 38 Albanian civilians were killed without uniforms. Also, as shown by subject letters”.
The subject file does not explain why 16 years after the war the prosecution had taken no action to investigate these suspicious acts, since one of the main reasons for the detention assignment is the risk of the suspect leaving the country. Sahitiaj was arrested last week on Special Prosecutor's orders while remaining in custody for 30 if there is no other verdict. /Call. com/
